![]() ![]() I know I must be biased, but it seems a shame that OpenOffice hasn't seemed to try to emulate the best in user interface – it feels like it's designed BY programmers rather then FOR people). For Mac OS X up to 10.11 'El Capitan': There is a procedure laid out at the following link to allow applications not installed from the Mac App store to run. OpenOffice for MAC OS 10.4.11 (PPC) Issues installing under the Mac OSX - X11 - Aqua. Maybe it's because I'm a designer, but I am finding OpenOffice a bit too PC/microsoft-ish and not enough intuitive mac-ish. This is a feature to help guard against malware on recent Mac OS X systems. (I really like the idea of being able to move away from Microsoft, but my experience with label printing and crashing is rather putting me off. I'll have another go tomorrow and note down exactly what happens when. ![]() I have just tried to recreate the problem opening the same files but it seems to be working ok at the moment. doc files.Įarlier today it was crashing on starting up when I clicked on. I had been trying to get it to print labels from the database (which I must say seems to be a tortuous process) and opening various. Again it worked ok to start with, though a bit sluggish. ![]() I had just finished giving OpenOffice its first real workout - making documents in the Writer and feeling very pleased - when one of the documents I had created wouldn't close. I have also trashed it, removed all the extra files it puts into library and then re-installed again. I just downloaded OpenOffice 2.3 on my 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4 Mac Mini with 512 MB RAM and 23 Gigs storage running OS 10.4.11. I installed it by dragging onto the applications alias. ![]()
